While May Park Executive Apartments' regular influx of travellers has been temporarily reduced due to the Covid19 pandemic, business owners Leanne and David Panozzo are taking the opportunity to expand into an innovative new venture.
They're introducing an ice creamery and espresso bar into May Park Executive Apartments, on the corner of Darlot and Baillie Street.
Visitors will be catered to through a servery window, allowing smooth compliance with COVID regulations, while encouraging patrons to enjoy the beauty and facilities of nearby May Park.
Their aim is to provide the Wimmera community and tourists with a contemporary hospitality venue, serving quality ice cream and espresso coffee.
The Panozzos are successful applicants for Horsham Rural City Council's COVID19 Support Grants through the Stronger Business stream.
Their grant will go towards the infrastructure of their business' contemporary glazing, a key feature in making the venue's appearance consistent with their branding.
Not only will the new venture provide employment to approximately 6 casual staff members, discussions have also been had with a local secondary school to offer employment to students undertaking their Certificate 2 in Hospitality.
The council's COVID-19 Support grants are open to all HRCC businesses, individuals and community organisations to help them prepare, respond and build resilience to the pandemic.
To ensure support is available when needed, applications will be assessed and approved monthly until March this year, or until funding is fully allocated.
