The mobile Mission Operations Centre is a new facility designed to support space launches, remote operations, and inspire STEM learning nationwide.
Housed within a B-Double trailer, the front and rear modules expand when on-site to comfortably support 30 operators with configurable multi-monitor stations, overhead mission-status screens, resilient networking communications, and off-grid power systems.
The development of the facility was a partnership between the iLAuNCH Trailblazer, funded under the department's Trailblazer Universities Program, and Australia's national science agency, CSIRO.

The Mission Operations Centre is a breakthrough in mobile infrastructure for Australia's space operations.
"Australia's unique space landscape requires flexible, resilient infrastructure. The mobile Mission Operations Centre fills a critical gap, expanding Australia's sovereign space capabilities by enabling mission control and range support to be rapidly deployed wherever it's needed, from regional rocket ranges to urban STEM outreach events," said, Dr Rob Hough, CSIRO Executive Director for Digital, National Facilities and Collections.
The facility will be used as an education platform by transforming into a mobile outreach hub that offers interactive activities such as mock rocket launches and simulated remote operations.
It will help to bridge the gap in STEM skills for students by bringing world class infrastructure directly to schools and communities, particularly in regional and rural Australia.
