A Tapping man has been fined $9,000 and ordered to pay $891.40 in costs for illegally dumping six trailer loads of rubbish at Koala Road, State Forest 65 (Pinjar).
Adam John Lacy, 35, was caught on camera on six occasions during a covert surveillance operation by officers from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation between November 2019 and January 2020.
Hidden cameras captured his Holden Commodore towing a trailer loaded with builder's waste driving into State Forest 65 in the Pinjar area and leaving with the trailer empty.
Mr Lacy was fined $2,000 for each of four dumping offences, and $500 for each of the remaining two, adding up to the total of $9,000.
As stated by Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:
"Every time someone dumps a trailer load of waste in the bush someone must clean it up, and someone has to pay for that - usually either taxpayers or ratepayers.
"People who illegally dump waste should be warned that DWER officers are out there actively trying to catch them, and when they do, offenders will be prosecuted.
"Some of the waste dumped by Mr Lacy, such as scrap steel, would have been free to drop off at an authorised waste facility, which is not only better for the environment but is just the right thing to do."
