Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man as part of their investigation into an aggravated burglary in Bendigo last month.
Detectives have been told a woman was home alone with her dog when she observed an unknown man at the back of her McCrae Street address about 11.20pm on Wednesday, 13 October.
The man entered and approached her lounge room with a large knife in his hand.
The male offender threatened the woman and made demands for cash.
The woman's dog then lunged at the offender and grabbed his arm, before pulling him outside of the home.
The woman then locked the back door after her dog ran back inside.
The unknown man then ran off via a side gate before fleeing in an unknown direction.
As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives have today released a computer-generated image of a man who they believe can assist with their enquires.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall with a slim face, dark brown eyes and approximately 35-40-years old.
He was wearing a dark beanie, a black hoodie, blue jeans and a black coat and at the time.
The knife he was carrying had serrated edges and a red handle.
Detectives are investigating whether the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
