Images of man released after peeping tom reported, NSW

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries, after a camera captured a man peeping through the window of a house at Collaroy Plateau, NSW Police say.

About 10.45pm Friday 30 November 2018, a 13-year-old girl was at her home in Plateau Road, when she noticed a man looking through the window.

The girl alerted her parents who searched the rear yard but were unable to find the man.

Police were alerted and conducted a canvass of the area, without success; however, a check of the home’s CCTV system revealed images of a man walking around the property.

Police were informed a similar incident had occurred on the evening of Thursday 4 October 2018, when a man peeped through a bedroom window, but this was not reported to police.

Police have now released a description of a man they hope can assist with inquiries.

He is described as being either Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander or Pacific Islander in appearance, about 25 to 35 old, with a medium to large build and short dark hair. At the time he was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt, long pants, white sneakers and a black watch.

Northern Beaches Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Michael Boutouridis, said police take reports such as these seriously.

"Families have the right to feel safe in their own homes but incidents such as these can be extremely distressing, especially when children are involved," Det Insp Boutouridis said.

"We’ve spoken to the family involved, we’ve canvassed the neighbourhood and have collated information, but we need help from the community to identify this person.

"Anyone who believes they know this man is urged to contact Dee Why Police or Crime Stoppers.
