IMPORTANT: Work and security arrangements for 18 November

Important message from Professor Y C Richard Wong, Acting Executive Vice-President (Administration & Finance)

Dear colleagues and students,

Although road conditions around the University's Main Campus and Centennial Campus have improved, the damage to facilities will take some time to repair.

We advise colleagues whose offices are on the Main and Centennial campuses to work from home if at all possible and not to come to the University on Monday, 18 November.

To better protect student and staff safety, effective immediately, colleagues and students should carry their valid staff or student cards at all times while on University premises. There will be UID checks at entrance/exit points to the campus and at individual buildings. This is applicable to all HKU premises, including the Main Campus, Centennial Campus, Sassoon Road Campus, all halls and residential colleges etc.

We ask for your cooperation and understanding during these unconventional times.

The University will only maintain emergency and essential services on the Main and Centennial campuses as the situation allows.

Offices on these campuses that will remain open, and Faculties and institutes that are not based at these two campuses, will issue their own circulars about work arrangements.

We hope to resume all University operations as soon as possible and will update colleagues on developments in a timely manner.

Please continue to stay vigilant and safe.

Thank you for your understanding.

Professor Y C Richard Wong

Acting Executive Vice-President (Administration & Finance)
