Improving waste management and recycling in Australia

The Australian Government has responded to the Inquiry into Australia's Waste Management and Recycling Industries.

The inquiry was conducted by the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Innovation, Science and Resources. The committee looked at opportunities for waste materials, including energy production, recycling and exports. It also looked at the barriers to innovation in this area.

The committee published its report on 20 December 2020. The report made 24 recommendations to remove barriers to innovation and improve resource recovery in Australia.

The government has agreed with 2 of the recommendations, noted 14 and supported 8 in principle.
