Passing of WMO colleague

Dr Mannava V.K. Sivakumar was born on 30th August 1950 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. He passed away on 29 March 2025 at the age of 74 in Hyderabad, India. Dr Sivakumar graduated in Agricultural Science from Agriculture College, Bapatla, which he attended from 1966-1970. He completed his Master's degree from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi (1970-1972) and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1977. After completing his education, he worked at the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) from 1978 to 1996, where he rose to the position of Principal Agricultural Climatologist at ICRISAT's Sahelian Centre (ISC) in Niamey, Niger. He joined WMO in 1998, serving first as the Head of the Agricultural Meteorological Division (1998-2010) then as the Director, Climate Prediction and Adaptation Branch from 2010-2012. He retired from WMO in 2012 and worked as a consultant for various organizations.
