The Northern Sound System will come alive on Friday 22 August with the sounds, lights and energy of an inclusive 18+ nightclub.
The Heart Beat Club, run by Tutti Arts and hosted by the City of Playford, is designed to bring the nightclub experience to life for learning-disabled people, their friends and allies. From 7pm to 11pm, guests can enjoy a safe, welcoming and vibrant space to dance, connect and have fun.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the event reflects Council's commitment to creating spaces and experiences where everyone can feel included.
"The Heart Beat Club is more than just a night out - it's about opening the doors to connection and community for people to experience live DJs," the Mayor said.
"Creating connections in our community is a key strategic objective for us at Council and we're completely embracing this great event by Tutti Arts here in Playford."
The evening will feature live DJ performances, a pumping dance floor, arcade games and an electric atmosphere, ensuring everyone can fully enjoy the night.
The Beats Crew, a group of learning-disabled DJs, provide the soundtrack for the Heart Beat Club. With support from Tutti Arts and disability support organisation Access2Arts, they create a welcoming space where people can dance the night away.
Lorcan Hopper, known as DJ Power and a founding member of the Beats Crew, is eager to share his talent and passion for DJing at Northern Sound System.
"It [The Heart Beat Club] was actually our idea as a group. When we perform on the decks, we want it to be loud so that people can have fun with it, dance along with us," says DJ Power.
"We want to have fun, stay up late (extremely late!), spend time with friends, do it our way, show the public what we can do, dance, dress up, feel safe and make our club awesome."
