Swan Hill Regional Library is proud to introduce Sensitive Storytime, a calm and welcoming session designed especially for children who experience the world a little differently.
Sensitive Storytime is tailored for children with developmental delay, intellectual disability, autism, or those who are withdrawn or sensitive to their surroundings. The inclusive session provides a relaxed, supportive and sensory-considerate environment where neurodivergent children and their families can enjoy Storytime at their own pace.
Libraries Manager Camille Cullinan said the program aims to ensure every child feels welcome and supported at the library.
"Sensitive Storytime is designed to be flexible, patient and completely judgment-free.
"There are no expectations during the session. Children are welcome to move around, make noise, take breaks or participate in whatever way feels comfortable for them. We understand that every child is different, and we want families to feel safe and supported in our space," Ms Cullinan said.
Families who are unsure whether Sensitive Storytime is suitable for their child, or who would like to discuss the program further, are encouraged to contact the library.
