RSPCA Million Paws Walk celebrated One Last Lap on Sunday, with around 8,000 Victorians and roughly 5,000 furry friends raising over $260,000 to support the fight against animal cruelty in Victoria.
Speaking about the Million Paws Walk, Events Manager Kate Kasby said the day had been an 'incredible' finale for the iconic event.
"The support we saw around Victoria was incredible, with so many wagging tails!" Ms Kasby said.
"Across the five Million Paws Walk events, we've seen around 8,000 people and over 5,000 dogs walking to fight animal cruelty!
"We'd like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who helped organise the Walks in Albert Park Lake Mornington Peninsula, Geelong, Traralgon, and Wangaratta, along with our Inspectors who attended and the many volunteers who helped ensure event ran smoothly.
"We'd especially like to say a massive thank you to our amazing RSPCA sponsors and ambassadors, as well as everyone who participated in the walks, including their furry friends, and fundraised for this legacy event!
"While this year's event was the last lap, RSPCA Victoria will still help rescue and care for some of the states most vulnerable animals through RSPCA Victoria's Inspectorate, Community Outreach initiatives such as low-cost vaccination clinics, means tested Healthy Pet Days, pet food banks and more."
