Indecent Dealings With a Child Charge - Karawara

Cannington Detectives have charged a man after an incident at a shopping centre in Karawara yesterday afternoon, Friday 25 June 2021, in which a child was indecently dealt with.
About 5:30pm a 7-year-old girl was with her parent at a supermarket in Karawara. The child's parent was scanning items at a checkout when it will be alleged a man, who is not known to the child, approached her and touched her inappropriately.
An employee at the supermarket observed the incident and intervened, shouting at the man to stop. The man returned inside the supermarket and was followed by security while police were called to the scene.
Cannington Police were deployed to the scene under emergency conditions and arrested the man before he could leave the shopping centre.
A 59-year-old man has been charged with 'Indecent Dealings with a Child Under 13 Years'. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 26 June 2021.
