Indian Business Leaders Explore Emerging Workplace Issues

Business leaders from India gained new insights into some of the emerging issues shaping the world of work during a visit to the ILO Bureau for Employers' Activities.

The visit, organized as part of the Advanced Global Leadership Program of the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), provided an opportunity to explore developments in areas such as artificial intelligence and digitalization, just transition and heat stress, and to consider their implications for employers and enterprises.

Welcoming the delegation, Maria Paz Anzorreguy, Director of the ILO Bureau for Employers' Activities, highlighted the importance of ensuring that employers' perspectives contribute to discussions on the future of work.

ILO employers' specialists also provided an overview of the ILO, its role and current agenda, followed by a lively exchange on its continued relevance in a rapidly changing world of work and how the Organization is responding to new challenges.

The discussion also touched on the recently adopted Convention No. 193 on decent work in the platform economy, with some of its key provisions and their relevance for employers presented to participants.

The exchanges gave participants an opportunity to consider these developments from an employers' perspective and discuss their implications for enterprises, business operations and the changing nature of employment.

The visit also contributed to strengthening the dialogue between SCOPE and the ILO Bureau for Employers' Activities and provided a basis for continued exchange on emerging issues affecting employers and enterprises.
