We support cycling and recreation and want young people and the wider community, to have safe, well designed places to ride.
Across Manningham, informal bike jumps are sometimes constructed in parks and reserves. These structures are not designed or maintained to safety standards and may be unsafe for riders and other park users. As well as the safety risk, informal tracks can wreak havoc on vegetation, cause erosion, impact waterways and wildlife.
The safety of our community is our highest priority, which is why we remove informal bike jumps.
We know this may be disappointing news, and that bike jumps are often enjoyed by young people who are being active outdoors and having fun with friends.
Looking for another place to ride?
Manningham is fortunate to be home to multiple fit-for-purpose BMX and skate facilities, free for the community to enjoy.
We've recently opened a bike skills park and mountain bike flow trails at Fitzsimons Reserve, Templestowe
In addition, we are working toward several safer alternatives for our community. Our Recreational Bike Facilities Plan 2025 includes the delivery of 8 formal bike facility sites across Manningham over the next 10 years.
We've started planning for an asphalt pump track at Morris Williams Reserve and will soon prepare plans for future sites including Wonga Park, Zerbes Reserve in Doncaster East, Jenkins Park in Templestowe, and Katrina Gully in Doncaster.
