Summary of what's changing
In early 2027 we will replace Infoshare with Aotearoa Data Explorer (ADE) Time Series Expansion, as the source of our time series data.
As part of this change, we are reviewing the names and descriptions of data tables and refining the content of the metadata side panels in ADE. These changes aim to improve searchability and clarity, making it easier to find the data you need.
During this process, Infoshare will continue to be the official source for the data that resides in it.
Timeline for Infoshare replacement
Infoshare data will be migrated to ADE from late 2026.
To help customers adjust their systems and processes, we are making two test environments available during 2026:
- Alpha environment - designed to help Infoshare customers (Load Query and Export Direct users) establish a new technology pipeline for data from ADE using the Application Programming Interface (API).
- Beta environment - designed to help all Infoshare customers confidently find and retrieve time series data from ADE, giving them a head start on any process changes at their end.
What you need to do at this stage
If you use Infoshare, we invite you to join our Replace Infoshare Customer Group by emailing [email protected]. (CDTP is the Customer Data Tools Project, who are implementing this change).
We will add you to a Microsoft Teams channel, which acts as our collaboration space for replacing Infoshare with ADE. In it you will find:
- Information - about what's happening, when it's happening and, how to assess the impact on your own systems and processes.
- Access to the Alpha and Beta environments we are planning to release.
- Access to support to make the transition easier;
- support from the project implementing the changes,
- support from the data tool community (other Infoshare users).
- Ability to influence the project and the community of data tool users through sharing your experience and tips and tricks.

We are aiming to replace Infoshare by April 2027.
- Alpha release: July 2026 - Customers can test API connections with a subset of Selected Price Index (SPI) data (no user interface (UI).
- Beta release: Sept 2026* - Significantly more data added plus the UI - focused on time series experience.
- Going live with ADE time series expansion: April 2027* - Preparing customers and Stats NZ for the change from Infoshare to ADE.
- Decommission Infoshare: TBD** - Once we have assurance that customers can reliably find and use Infoshare data in ADE.
- Future Metadata Improvements: TBD - Future work to standardise our metadata across data sets and series.
*This is a guide, not a confirmed date. **We won't turn off Infoshare until we're confident customers can find and access Infoshare data in Aotearoa Data Explorer (ADE).
