Lands Minister Ben Wyatt has today called for suitable development or land use proposals for more than 75,000 hectares of underutilised Government land adjacent to Broome.
Situated just 40 kilometres from Broome, Waterbank Station was acquired by the Government in 1996 to accommodate for the future expansion of the township.
The McGowan Government is seeking registrations of interest from individuals or organisations to determine the best use for the south-east portion of the former pastoral station that also maximises the return on investment for the local community, and the State.
Bound by Kilto, Country Downs, Mt Jowalenga, Roebuck Plains and Yeeda stations, the site may be suitable for a variety of large-scale developments.
Proposals must demonstrate a significant social, cultural or economic benefit to Broome and will help build a stronger economy for the Kimberley community.
Registrations of interest are open until November 29, 2019 and can be made online at http://www.dplh.wa.gov.au/waterbank

"This is a rare chance to revitalise a strategically located stretch of land on Broome's doorstep and contribute to the future growth of the popular tourist destination.
"There are many development and economic opportunities from this underutilised area of our North-West and I encourage interested proponents to register their interest today.
"The former Waterbank Station has a long history in the Kimberley region and has been the subject of much interest since it closed in the mid-1990s. Now, it is time for this land to play a key role in building more prosperous regions and diversifying our economy."
