Investigation continues as woman located at Snapper Point identified, NSW

Police are appealing for information to piece together the final moments of a woman whose body was found on the state’s Central Coast at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 10.30am on Sunday (24 April 2016), emergency services were called to Snapper Point in the Munmorah State Conservation Area, following the discovery of a woman’s body in water inside the blow hole.

Strike Force Elise has been established by investigators from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s suspected murder.

The woman has been formally identified as Mengmei Leng, a 25-year-old International student from China.

Ms Leng was reported missing to Campsie Police on Monday (25 April 2016), by a relative.

Strike Force detectives have released CCTV images of Ms Leng shopping on Pitt Street, Sydney, about 3pm last Thursday (21 April 2016).

After this time, Ms Leng caught a train from St James Railway Station, arriving at Campsie Railway Station about 4.30pm.

Police are continuing to piece together Ms Leng’s movements over the long weekend and are appealing for anyone who may have seen or spoken with her during this time to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
