Investigation continues into Forrestdale fire

Arson Squad detectives continue to investigate a fire at an auto wreckers/vehicle scrap business located on McCook Street in Forrestdale on Wednesday, 24 February 2021.

Just after 3am a person entered the yard through a damaged fence and walked through the yard looking at wrecked vehicles.

Around 3.35am, the offender used a battery powered grinder on a wrecked vehicle which ignited a fire and damaged 50 scrap vehicles. It is likely the offender received burns to his arms.

Damage to the premises is estimated at between $5,000 and $20,000.

Arson Squad detectives ask anyone in the area around the time of the fire with CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam vision, to come forward.
