About 3pm, a man in his 50s was walking eastbound along the footpath that runs alongside Armadale Road. As he approached the intersection with Seville Drive, an unknown man riding an E bike collided with him, causing him to fall to the ground.
As the victim got to his feet, a second unknown male approached and struck him to the back of the head with what is believed to have been a small wooden bat. The victim fell to the ground again, where both offenders punched and kicked him.
The victim was treated at Armadale Hospital for broken ribs and multiple visible injuries to his head, face and torso.
Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area at the time, who saw the altercation, or who observed two males in their late 40s to early 50s in the vicinity, to come forward. Officers would particularly like to hear from the member of the public who assisted the injured man immediately after the incident.
