More than 60 Queensland Police Service members and community members have been recognised for their outstanding service, courage and dedication at the Ipswich District Honours and Awards Ceremony today in Ripley.
The ceremony celebrated recipients of National and Queensland Police Service honours, including the Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal, National Police Service Medal, National Medal, Queensland Police Service Medal as well as Assistant Commissioner and District Officer's Certificates.
Among those recognised with an Assistant Commissioner's Certificate was Sergeant Simon Guildford, who assumed command of a high-risk incident following an armed robbery at a Yamanto tobacconist on 9 November 2025.
After the offender was located at Booval, Sergeant Guildford demonstrated exceptional leadership and tactical judgement, successfully de-escalating the confrontation and ensuring the offender was safely taken into custody without injury.
Senior Constables Rory Chandler and Paul Munroe, Constable Rhianna Littlewood and Special Constable Peter Torzsok were awarded a District Officer's Certificate in recognition of their investigation into a deliberate dangerous driving event at Wivenhoe Hill in February this year.

Others to be recognised at today's event included Senior Constable Sarah Kane who was awarded the 2026 Karen Gilliard Award for exceptional commitment and leadership throughout more than 10 years of service at Goodna Police Station. Beyond her operational duties, Senior Constable Kane has successfully raised 11 QPS Dog Squad puppies and dedicated countless volunteer hours to the Ipswich Blue Light Committee, supporting youth engagement and crime prevention initiatives.
Several officers were also recognised for their professionalism in response to critical and domestic and family violence incidents, as well as developing initiatives to assist with missing person cases.
Ipswich District Officer Superintendent Ray Vine said the event was an opportunity to recognise the exceptional commitment, courage and professionalism demonstrated by Ipswich police officers and community members.
