It's time to reconnect with your local libraries and relaunch for 2021

Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging all library members and the wider community to reconnect with their local library and prepare to relaunch into the New Year with a fresh start.

Communities Councillor Drew Wickerson said the library is the perfect place to unwind after what has been a trying 2020 and prepare for the New Year.

"With the end of the year fast approaching, why not set some time aside to think about how you would like to finish off the year?" Cr Wickerson said.

"Whether it is immersing yourself in a good book over the summer, or indulging in some great movies on the library's free streaming service Beamafilm, there is something for everyone to dive into.

"We want you to get excited about reconnecting with your local library and I know many of us are looking forward to the New Year and a fresh start in 2021.

"We encourage you to return any outstanding library items you may still have - and remember to check all those tricky places items hide, like under beds and car seats, down the side of the lounge and even among your own books!

"Don't forget library items can be returned 24/7 to the external returns chutes at Northside, Southside and Gracemere Libraries.

"Our libraries had to think outside the box in 2020 to introduce online activities and takeaway services during the lockdown period, but we would love to see even more of our members returning to visit us once again, and to welcome new members joining for the first time.

"If you haven't visited before, or it has been a while, come in to your local library and check out all the fantastic, free resources we have available."
