It's Decision Time: Forced Council Amalgamations?

Tasmanian Labor

It has now been two weeks of arrogant refusal to answer a simple question by Nic Street.

Will or won't he use powers in the Local Government Act to forcibly merge councils with the stroke of a pen?

I've been speaking with many Tasmanians who are rightly concerned about the impact Minister Street's plans will have on their communities.

But until he answers this question, anyone's opinion except his is rendered irrelevant in this debate.

No one person should be the judge, jury and executioner for a matter which stands to impact so many people.

If Street wants to close down councils without consulting residents he should commit to bringing his amalgamations agenda before both houses of Parliament.
