JACET charges at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police arrested a 43-year-old man in Tennant Creek yesterday in relation to possessing child abuse material.

Acting on information from the United States National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, detectives from the NT Police Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team, with assistance from the Tennant Creek Criminal Investigation Branch, executed a search warrant on the man's residence yesterday. The man's mobile phone allegedly contained child abuse material.

He has been charged with:

  • 9 x Fail to comply with reporting conditions
  • 1 x Access child abuse material using a carriage service

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court tomorrow.

Senior Sergeant Jon Beer said, "This arrest demonstrates the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to protect children from abuse.

"The Northern Territory JACET will continue to work with our national and international partners to ensure the safety of all children, no matter where the offenders are located."
