- Japanese energy company ENEOS officially opens its new Bulwer Island demonstration facility in Brisbane.
- New $200 million green hydrogen facility will support 100 specialist jobs in Queensland and comes as a direct result of Crisafulli Government's trade mission to Japan.
- The Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy by repairing Queensland's international relationships that were damaged during Labor's decade of decline.
The Crisafulli Government's open for business approach is delivering jobs and rebuilding confidence among international investors, with the official opening of Japanese energy giant ENEOS' new green hydrogen facility in Brisbane.
Labor's decade of decline tarnished Queensland's reputation with key international trading partners, but ENEOS' investment – which was also backed by the Japanese Government – is a clear sign the relationship is being repaired.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy by making Queensland open for business and continuing to drive an ambitious trade reset.
ENEOS' new $200 million demonstration facility at Bulwer Island was borne from the Crisafulli Government's trade mission to Japan in 2024 and is expected to support more than 100 specialist jobs in Queensland across the life of the project.
The project brings Japanese technology together with Queensland expertise to test a way of producing and transporting green hydrogen for international markets.
It uses a liquid carrier that allows hydrogen to be stored and transported at normal temperature and pressure, with a portion of production intended for Japan.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the new facility showed why maintaining direct relationships with investors mattered to Queensland workers and businesses.
"When I met ENEOS in Japan in December 2024, we announced this investment in Queensland and now we've opened the facility in Brisbane," Minister Bates said.
"Labor left our international reputation in tatters, which is why the Crisafulli Government has driven an ambitious trade reset and restored trust in Queensland as a stable place to do business.
"Under our Government, Queensland is open for business and stands ready to work with investors to drive sustainable economic opportunities for the future.
"That's why I met with ENEOS on my first trade mission and today, its new Brisbane facility is opening, delivering local jobs and opportunities for local Queensland businesses."
