Jazz Festival Swings Into Wollongong CBD Saturday

If you love smooth sounds and great local vibes, Jazz in the City is calling.

Happening this Saturday 6 June, the free event will see talented jazz musicians perform across a range of venues throughout the Wollongong CBD.

Jazz in the City is a curated, one-day micro festival offering a relaxed, wander-at-your-own-pace experience, with music lovers invited to explore the city while enjoying incredible live performances.

Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown encouraged the community to come along and experience the city's buzzing live music scene.

"Jazz in the City is a fantastic opportunity to experience high-quality live music in some of Wollongong's favourite venues. It's all happening on Saturday 6 June from 2pm to 8pm," she said.

"The program features an exciting mix of local talent, early career and seasoned artists, and spans everything from Latin rhythms and big band sounds to funk, soul, and contemporary jazz.

"Whether you're stopping in for a single set or planning to spend the whole afternoon and evening discovering new acts, there's something for everyone."

Performances will take place across six venues including The Music Lounge, The Icon, Lux Bistro Bar, Mr Crown, The Black Cockatoo and Scoundrel's Rest.

Cr Brown said the format makes it easy for audiences to create their own experience.

"The beauty of Jazz in the City is that it's completely flexible. You can move between venues, stay longer at your favourites, or simply wander and soak up the atmosphere.

"The best bit is entry is free and all venues are within easy walking distance of each other."

The Wollongong CBD website has the full program, including performance times, artists, and venue details.
