Join Summer Fest Thursdays at Wurriki Nyal Lawns

The City of Greater Geelong is activating the lawns of its Civic Precinct on Thursdays in summer to bring the community together.

Community members are encouraged to support local traders and bring their lunch to enjoy while relaxing on the lawns, with live music and free summer-themed sweet treats.Lunch on the Lawns - Summer Series will be held every Thursday in February from 12 noon to 2.00 pm, with everyone welcome.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM:

The revitalisation of Central Geelong has been a key priority of mine, and one of the themes identified in last year's forums has been the need for activation of what we already have.

Following the overwhelming success of the Geelong City Market, I want to do something on weekdays, which is why we are activating our lawns on Thursdays in February.

It's going to be amazing to see workers from the surrounding buildings and the broader community come together and enjoy some live music and summer treats while supporting local businesses and musical talent.

Artist Matt Baird will be playing at the first event:

I'm looking forward to bringing the summer vibes to the Wurriki Nyal lawns and seeing the community coming together in Central Geelong.

This is a great thing for Central Geelong, and I hope everyone gets behind it.
