We are seeking your views as we develop a new position statement on the role of the doctor.
The health landscape has changed markedly since we first developed our position statement in in 2011. The role of the doctor has never been more critical to define, nor more urgent to defend. Across Australia, we are witnessing an unprecedented erosion of the doctor's role in healthcare. Scope of practice creep continues to blur the lines of clinical responsibility, while doctors face mounting administrative burdens that pull doctors further from direct patient care.
Workforce shortages are being used to justify quick fixes that prioritise expediency over patient safety. These pressures are not just professional concerns - they have real consequences for the quality and safety of care that Australians receive.
To help inform our new position statement we want to hear from you.
Whether you are navigating supervision arrangements, managing delegation in under-resourced settings, working in effective teams or advocating for your patients within fragmented care models, your insights will shape the new position statement.
The survey - which is open until 24 November - is anonymous and takes just five minutes to complete.
