The global law firm Jones Day announces that Adam Conway has joined the Firm in Perth as a partner in its Energy Practice.

Mr. Conway, who will lead Jones Day's energy and resources transactional work in Perth, has more than 20 years' experience working with the largest energy and resources companies throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. His clients represent a range of sectors including mining as well as upstream and downstream energy. He has extensive client experience pertaining to major project development and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Conway is recognised as a leading lawyer in the areas of Energy, Natural Resources and Mining.

"Adam is an outstanding addition to our global energy team and is the ideal person to lead the Energy and Resources side of the practice as we continue to grow in Perth," said Simon Bellas, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Perth Office. "Given the outlook for increased project and transactional activity in the energy and resources sectors, it is an opportune time to build our energy and resources transactional capabilities. Adam will drive those efforts for us, and I look forward to his contributions."

Mr. Conway has advised clients on major projects (in the mining and oil and gas sectors) in respect of structuring, joint operating agreements and joint venture issues as well as energy supply, commercial agreements, off-take arrangements, and field development. In the energy supply area, he has advised on the whole range of downstream energy issues from gas sales, gas transportation, gas storage, gas swaps, interconnects, spot transactions, PPAs and renewable energy (including wind farms).

"The oil, natural gas, and mining sectors continue to drive economic activity and growth in Western Australia," said Jeff Schlegel, who leads Jones Day's Energy Practice. "Adam's experience in those areas will be of great benefit to our clients who are embarking on significant capital projects and their related transactions. He will be a great addition to our global energy team."

Mr. Conway advises on all aspects of mining projects including tenure, exploration, logistics, joint venture issues, farm-ins, tolling arrangements, asset acquisition and divestment, off-take agreements, contract disputes and energy supply. He provides client support across the whole value chain in respect of mining projects - obtaining initial tenure, mine development and energy procurement, selling product, asset divestment and ultimately mine closure. His recent work has involved assisting on a range of commodities including gold, iron ore, nickel, spodumene (pre cursor to lithium), mineral sands, vanadium, uranium, rare earths and iron oxide copper gold.
