The Kalgoorlie Jobs Fair, funded by the Australian Government, is being held today and will showcase employment opportunities and connect job seekers with local employers.
Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease more local businesses are looking to hire and Jobs Fairs are a great way to find out about local opportunities.
"The Kalgoorlie Jobs Fair will have more than 30 booths featuring local businesses and employment service providers, promoting more than 250 job opportunities available in the region, including more than 15 apprenticeships and traineeships on offer," Minister Cash said.
"This is a great opportunity for local people to attend this free event and speaking directly with local small businesses, recruiters and employment service providers from their area."
"We are determined to see people in Kalgoorlie and the wider region get the help they need to gain employment."
Federal Member for O'Connor Rick Wilson said the Kalgoorlie Jobs Fair is a great way for people to connect with businesses currently recruiting, and also offers sessions with practical tips for job readiness, such as creating résumés and preparing for an interview.
"Local organisations will be there to explain the qualifications needed to work in key industries in the region, which include mining, public administration and safety, and health care and social assistance," Mr Wilson said.
The Kalgoorlie Jobs Fair is on Tuesday, 28 July 2020 from 9.30am to 3:00pm at the Goldfields Arts Centre, 35 Cheetham Street, Kalgoorlie WA 6430.
