Karratha High School Set for Cafeteria Upgrade

  • Total of $2.3 million for refurbishment of Karratha Senior High School cafeteria
  • Infrastructure project will improve building structure and functionality
  • Anticipated to be completed in August 2026

Karratha Senior High School students will soon be served an upgraded cafeteria thanks to a $2.3 million Cook Government investment in refurbishments.

The project will improve the current structure of the building as well as update the inside of the facility. Functionality will be improved with the installation of two new servery windows in the exterior walls.

The high school has been open for more than 50 years and currently has 1,225 students enrolled from year 7 to year 12.

The refurbishment will not only create a new and improved eating space for students but also provide a modern facility that will serve the school community for generations to come.

Hodge Collard Preston Architects are designing the refreshed cafeteria.

The tender for construction will be released on 9 September and completion is anticipated for August 2026.

As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:

"The Cook Government is committed to providing modern and well-equipped facilities for all Western Australian students to learn in, including in regional areas.

"This upgraded cafeteria will help to ensure students have a new eating area to relax in and enjoy their meals with classmates."

Comments attributed to Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

"This is fantastic news for Karratha Senior High School students and families.

"I know students and staff will be excited to see the refreshed cafeteria take shape, and I'm proud to be part of a State Government that is continuing to invest in schools here in the Pilbara."
