Kate Roffey To Lead Victoria's State Sport Centres Trust

VIC Premier

Successful sport and business leader Kate Roffey has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the State Sport Centres Trust.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today announced Ms Roffey will take up the position in May, following the departure of former CEO Phil Meggs in January.

The State Sport Centres Trust governs three of Melbourne's best known sporting facilities: Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Melbourne Sports Centres Parkville - the state's home of netball and hockey - and Lakeside Stadium.

Ms Roffey has extensive leadership experience in the government, commercial and sporting sectors.

Most recently, she has worked as a Director at the City of Wyndham overseeing the delivery of the Western United A-League Project - a 60 hectare sporting, commercial and residential precinct.

Ms Roffey is also President of the premiership-winning Melbourne Football Club, Deputy Chancellor of Victoria University Council, a former CEO of both the Committee for Melbourne and VicSport, and a founding member of the International Women's Foundation Australia.

The Trust's venues host more than two million visitors each year, delivering more than $164 million in economic benefit to Victoria annually and supporting more than 1100 jobs.

Mr Pakula thanked Phil Meggs for his near six year contribution to the Trust, and acknowledged Tim Bamford who has acted in the role since February.

As stated by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula

"Kate is a terrific fit for the CEO role with her considerable experience in sports leadership, business acumen, vision and outstanding negotiating skills."

"With her passion for sport, Kate will really deliver for the millions of Victorians who use the Trust's facilities, and alongside new Trust Chair Tracey Cooper, they make a formidable team."
