Keeping communities safe with new Armstrong Creek SES unit

Liberal Party Victoria

Armstrong Creek residents are set to become safer and better connected under a new commitment announced by the Liberals and Nationals.

Despite rapid population growth across Armstrong Creek and Geelong's southern suburbs, the Andrews Labor Government has continued to ignore calls from local State Emergency Service (SES) units for additional facilities and equipment.

That's why a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will invest $2.25 million towards the construction of a new Armstrong Creek SES station, as well as a new SES Response Vehicle.

Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin, said building an SES unit in Armstrong Creek would take the pressure off the nearby South Barwon unit.

"SES volunteers work tirelessly to protect the community and are being stretched thin," Mr Battin said.

"This important investment will ensure there are more resources in the area and provide a faster emergency response to manage future callouts."

Liberal Candidate for South Barwon, Andrew Katos, said this commitment would mean safer and better connected communities across Armstrong Creek.

"The Andrews Labor Government has abandoned the Armstrong Creek community and only the Liberals and Nationals will support our dedicated, hardworking SES volunteers."
