Keeping Our Beaches And Parks Safe For All Over Summer

Our Local Laws patrols have ramped up in Bayside's beaches and parks during the busy summer months, to ensure everyone can enjoy our open spaces, including our canine residents.

  • When taking your dog for a walk always remember to walk your dog on-leash, unless in a designated off-leash area.
  • Check the signs before you let your dog off the leash, and make sure they are microchipped and registered.
  • Our summer beach restrictions started on 1 November 2025. Dogs are prohibited on the foreshore from 10am-7:30pm, except for the three all-year-round off-leash beaches.
  • Keep your dog on leash within 20 metres of playgrounds, school ovals and sporting grounds where an organised event, practice or people are playing.
  • Make sure you scoop the poop (and bin it), don't let your dog dig, ask permission before approaching people or dogs and never let your dog run at or jump on others.
  • There are currently migrating birds at Rickett's Point, please obey restrictions in place at this location and let the birds rest and recover for their next journey.

By following local regulations and keeping your dog on a leash on all footpaths including foreshore footpaths, you help create a safer and more enjoyable Bayside for everyone.
