Keeping Our River Clean For Residents and Visitors

A river with rocks and water trickling around them

We're looking to keep litter out of our waterways, so residents and visitors can enjoy our rivers and to help the environment.

Georges Riverkeeper, who Fairfield City Council helps fund as a member council, has been successful in obtaining a $60,000 grant to develop a Litter Prevention Strategy for the Georges River Catchment.

The project is part of the NSW Environment Protection Authority, Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.

Georges Riverkeeper aims to work with member councils and the community, to create a litter prevention strategy to better understand the litter problem, investigate capacity to engage in litter prevention and guide future actions across the region under a cohesive strategic framework.
