Never leave your pet in a car on a hot day, not even with the window slightly open.
Ensure your pets always have plenty of water, including on car trips or if you're away from home. This should be a few days' supply in case of an emergency.
Walk dogs in the cooler parts of the day and protect their paw pads from hot pavement. You can test the ground temperature with the back of your hand.
Limit sun exposure and outdoor activities in peak heat and ensure your pet has cool shaded areas if outside.
If you are concerned that your pet is in discomfort, contact a vet as soon as possible.
