Kidnapping Charge, Arana Hills

Ferny Grove police have charged a man with kidnapping following investigations into trespass offences in Arana Hills, June 4.

Between 10am to 11am, police received reports of a person trespassing at three properties in Arana Hills.

Investigating officers were conducting patrols when they sighted a man jumping from a Nepean Avenue business rooftop and entering a ride-share car at approximately 11.30am.

It will be alleged the man verbally threatened the car's driver while armed with a knife.

Police assisted the driver out of the vehicle to safety within seconds.

It is further alleged the man moved into the driver's seat and made threats towards officers while armed with a knife.

Police presented a firearm and ordered the man to surrender, he was subsequently arrested without further incident.

No one was physically harmed during the incident.

A 45-year-old Annerley man has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, kidnapping, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault police officer whilst armed with a weapon, and wilful damage.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, June 5.

Investigations into the trespass offences are ongoing.
