Kimberley Town Centre Receives £16.5M Boost from Levelling Up Fund 2

Town Centre Regeneration

The Town Centre Regeneration project includes the construction of a new Business and Community Hub built in the place of the current Parish Hall. This will provide new community and business space and flexible co-working spaces will be made available to local start-ups and SME's.

The Town Centre scheme will also see:

  • grants being offered to existing local businesses to support town centre regeneration
  • a laser lights display, and virtual reality project bringing Kimberley to life

Councillor Milan Radulovic, Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council said:

The Levelling Up Fund is ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for Kimberley and will help us to support local businesses, as well as new ones, protect the environment, connect people to local amenities and jobs and help people live healthier lives.

Kimberley Cycle Path Network

A new cycle route will link up with existing routes in the area and connect Kimberley with key employment, retail and leisure sites in the following areas:

  • Bennerley Viaduct
  • Giltbrook Shopping Park
  • Eastwood
  • Phoenix Park tram stop

This project also involves constructing an Eastern Ramp at the historic Bennerley Viaduct.

The improved network will:

  • create an accessible cycle route between Kimberley and the Erewash Canal and into Derbyshire
  • make Kimberley more accessible for those without a car
  • encourage people to travel in and out of the area in healthier and more environmentally friendly ways

Re-location of Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club

Kimberley Miners Welfare Football Club at Digby Street will be relocated to a new facility. This will provide the football club with a new and improved home.

This will enable the grounds at Digby Street to be redeveloped into new industrial units, attracting new investment into Kimberley, enabling start-up businesses the chance to grow and bring new jobs into the area.
