King's has strengthened its partnership with the University of Hong Kong (HKU) though a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand health and life sciences research.

Building on the institutions' existing partnership, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aims to expand PhD studentships and post-doctoral fellowships between HKU's Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and King's health faculties over the next three years, with the next expected intake in 2026/27.
Priority areas for academic collaboration identified by the MoU include healthy ageing, neuroscience and mental health, and immunology and pandemic preparedness, with a cross-cutting focus on health data, technology and AI.
King's has a well-established and highly impactful partnership with the University of Hong Kong and this agreement marks our shared commitment to deepening our collaboration. By investing in our future leaders and combining the expertise of two world leading institutions, together we will tackle the pressing global health challenges facing us.
Professor Graham Lord, Senior Vice President (Health and Life Sciences) at King's.
Signed by Professor Graham Lord, Senior Vice-President (Health & Life Sciences) at King's, and Professor Chak-Sing Lau, Vice-President & Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health) at HKU, the agreement was formalised during a visit to the HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine in Hong Kong earlier this month. The meeting was also joined by Dr Amy Moore, Director of Strategic Delivery (Health and Life Sciences) at King's, and Professor Ivan Hung, Associate Director (Partnership and Engagement) and Professor Lijian Jin, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry from HKU.
International partnerships are central to King's mission to scale the impact of its research and contribute to global problem-solving, and the University's links to HKU are longstanding. King's collaboration with HKU ranges from student mobility programmes and collaborative research projects to a multi-faculty joint PhD programme. Over 1000 co-authored research papers have been published since 2015. Since its launch in 2010/11, 28 students have graduated from the programme, with 14 students currently enrolled.
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding reaffirms the shared vision of King's and HKU's Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine to advance healthcare through research and education. By joining forces, we are investing into a solid and strategic foundation as trusted partners and friends, going further together.
