Kingston Community Awards celebrating our unsung heroes

Unsung heroes, tireless volunteers, local legends, and anyone making a positive difference to our community will again be celebrated through the Kingston Community Awards – and we need your help to recognise them.

Time is running out to nominate individuals and community groups for this year.

The 2024 Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year awards will be presented as part of Kingston's Volunteer Week celebrations in May.

Kingston Mayor Jenna Davey-Burns said there are so many locals doing incredible things, and the awards are a fantastic way to celebrate and thank them for their efforts.

"Whether it's someone quietly supporting our most vulnerable, an inspiring mentor, or someone excelling in their particular field, we want all those making a real difference recognised," Cr Davey-Burns said.

"The awards aim to showcase fantastic community members – we're looking for nominations for people young and old, from high-flyers to quiet achievers, and for individuals and groups.

"I am personally very keen to hear about those promoting inclusion and togetherness in our community, like those from culturally and language diverse backgrounds or with lived experience of disability."

Deputy Mayor Tracey Davies said it is due to the tireless work of our people and community groups that Kingston is such a great place to live, work and play.

"We certainly wouldn't be as successful and connected without the spirit of contributing that is so alive in our city. Make a nomination today and tell us who inspires you," Cr Davies said.

Nominations close on Friday 15 March, while the winners will be announced at our community recognition event on Tuesday 21 May 2024. Any nominations received after the closing date will form part of 2025 awards program.
