Two Charged After Altona North Home Shooting

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men after shots were fired towards a home in Altona North yesterday morning.

It's alleged numerous shots were fired into the front of a Seventh Avenue home just after 3.30am.

There were no injuries to the sleeping occupants.

A white Toyota Hilux, matching the description of a vehicle seen at the earlier shooting, was later observed by detectives on Cleveland Drive in Craigieburn.

Whilst police were tracking the vehicle, a man allegedly fled from the car onto Elsternwick Way and was quickly arrested.

A further two men were located at a property nearby in Middlesborough Drive where police negotiated the duo safely into custody around 5am.

A 41-year-old Preston man and 21-year-old Craigieburn man have been charged with:

  • discharge firearm at a premises in the commission of serious indictable offence (conduct endangering life)
  • discharge firearm at a premises
  • conduct endangering life
  • prohibited person possess firearm
  • theft of motor vehicle
  • commit indictable offence whilst on bail
  • drive whilst disqualified

They will appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

An 18-year-old Parwan man was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.

It is alleged the Toyota was stolen from Craigieburn between 10pm on 30 July and 5am on 31 July.
