Community members passionate about making a difference in Kingston are encouraged to apply for the Kingston Kickstarters Community Leadership Training Program, with applications now open.
The free, fully subsidised program is designed to support current and emerging community leaders to build confidence, develop practical leadership skills and strengthen community connections.
Delivered across a series of workshops and training sessions, the program covers topics including leadership styles and identity, communication and cultural diversity, emotional resilience and decision-making, conflict management and inclusive leadership, community development, and project management. Participants will also have opportunities to connect with like-minded community members and build networks that continue beyond the program itself.
Applications are open to people aged over 18 who live, work, study or volunteer in Kingston.
Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley said the program was about empowering people to turn their ideas and passion into positive action for the community.
"Kingston Kickstarters is all about giving people the chance to grow their skills, build confidence, and connect with others who care about making Kingston the best it can be," Cr Oxley said.
"Leadership isn't just about having a title, it's about stepping up, having ideas, and working with others to make things happen.
"We know our community is full of people with great ideas and passion, and this program is one way we can help people turn that passion into action.
"Participants will learn from each other, share stories, and hopefully walk away with new skills, fresh ideas and some great new connections.
"I'm really proud that Council can support programs like this because when we invest in people, we invest in the future of our community."
The Kingston Kickstarters program aims to help create a more resilient, inclusive and empowered Kingston by supporting local leaders to drive positive change within their communities.
