Kingston's Sustainability Stars In Spotlight

The stage at the 2023 Sustainable Business Awards

Kingston's business community is set to come together to celebrate leadership, innovation and sustainable business excellence at the fourth annual Kingston Sustainable Business Awards Gala on Thursday 10 September.

This year's awards will celebrate 32 finalists who are leading positive change across Kingston through innovative ideas, strong leadership and sustainable business practices.

Mayor Georgina Oxley said the awards were an opportunity to celebrate the businesses helping build a stronger and more sustainable local economy.

"Kingston is home to so many wonderful businesses that are thinking differently, finding new ways to solve problems and making a positive difference in our community," Cr Oxley said.

"The Sustainable Business Awards are a chance to shine a light on that work and celebrate the people behind it.

"Whether it's reducing waste, finding smarter ways to operate, developing innovative products or creating a more inclusive workplace, these businesses are showing that sustainability and business success can go hand in hand.

"With 32 finalists this year, there is a lot to celebrate and I'm looking forward to recognising the achievements of our local businesses and young changemakers.

"I encourage businesses, industry professionals and members of our community to come along, celebrate our finalists and winners, and be inspired by the great ideas and leadership happening right here in Kingston."

Award winning Nine Network journalist Neary Ty is set to host the awards, which will feature a keynote address from former Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman and former Minister for Small Business Bruce Billson.

The awards also provide an opportunity for businesses to discover practical ideas they can take back to their own workplaces to help them innovate, grow and reduce their environmental impact.

Kingston is proud to support and recognise businesses helping to create stronger communities, a healthier environment and a more resilient local economy.

The Kingston Sustainable Business Awards are proudly supported by major sponsor Community Bank Parkdale, and category sponsors Up Property and KS Environmental, with independent judging by the Banksia Foundation.
