Kircher Named First World Bank Rep in Honduras

World Bank

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, July 2, 2025 - Andrew Kircher has been appointed World Bank Group Resident Representative for Honduras, a position that will unify country-level leadership across the institution. This new structure provides a single point of contact for access to the full breadth of World Bank Group products and services, aiming to deliver more integrated development solutions, enhance operational efficiency and impact, and better support public and private sector priorities.

The introduction of a joint representation is a significant step toward building a stronger World Bank Group. Honduras is one of 20 countries transitioning this year to a single Resident Representative for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

"Reducing poverty and creating more opportunities for Hondurans requires more dynamic economic growth, the creation of quality jobs, and more resilient communities," said Kircher upon taking on the role. "With a unified leadership, we can work more closely with the government, the private sector, and most importantly, the people we serve, to ensure economic development benefits everyone."

The World Bank Group's strategy in Honduras focuses on promoting human development, fostering growth and job creation, and strengthening resilience to natural disasters. The World Bank's (IBRD/IDA) active portfolio in the country includes 12 investment projects and two development policy operations, totaling over USD 1.19 billion in commitments. IFC's portfolio amounts to USD 266 million across 12 investment projects and three advisory engagements. MIGA has one active infrastructure project with an exposure of USD 64 million.

A U.S. national, Kircher joined the World Bank Group in 1999 as a Communications Officer. Since then, he has held several positions, including UN Program Coordinator, Senior Operations Officer, and Manager of External Relations. He holds a Master's Degree in Public Policy and Public Affairs from the American University.
