A woman has been issued with a notice to appear after allegedly being found in possession of a knife during a targeted police operation in Logan recently.
Officers from Crestmead Police Station conducted proactive patrols across a shopping centre and hotel as part of Operation Marshall - a focused initiative aimed at detecting and deterring knife and weapon possession in public places.
During the operation, officers conducted 15 wanding interactions and issued multiple street checks. A woman was allegedly located with a knife, which is prohibited under Queensland's expanded knife laws.
The 39-year-old Kingston woman was issued with a notice to appear for unlawful possession of category M weapon.
She is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 21 August.
Additional enforcement outcomes included drug diversions for possession of dangerous drugs, utensils, and other drug-related offences.
Acting Inspector Warren Parker said the detection reinforced the need for continued high-visibility patrols in the community.
"We make no apologies for using our powers to remove prohibited weapons from our streets," Acting Inspector Parker said.
"Carrying a knife in public is dangerous and illegal, and our officers are committed to keeping the Logan community safe by holding offenders to account."
Under Queensland's expanded knife laws, police are authorised to conduct handheld wanding in designated areas to detect concealed weapons.
Operation Marshall continues to be conducted across the Logan District in response to community concerns and intelligence-based targeted operations.
