Koolamara Waters Pedestrian Bridge removal

During routine maintenance works in mid-June this year it came to our attention that the western shared path bridge at the Koolamara Waters Reserve had suffered significant structural damage. Following structural engineering advice, the bridge was subsequently closed to public access.

We are aware of the disruption the loss of the use of this bridge has caused the community, particularly in the current Covid climate and we are pleased to advise that the contract to undertake the design and reconstruction of the bridge was awarded to a contractor in early August. The design of the new bridge is currently being finalised and the fabrication of the new bridge is due to commence in September. To assist in preparing the site for the construction works the existing bridge is to be removed this Thursday 2 September.

Alternative crossing points are available at the eastern pedestrian bridge in the reserve or at Blackwood Park Road.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to opening the new bridge so you can enjoy the full circuit walk once again.
