The Allan Labor Government has continued its cover-up of the largest corruption scandal in Victoria's history by failing to adequately refer allegations of Big Build corruption to Victoria Police.
In October 2024, $6 million was allegedly claimed for "damaged" machinery that was never replaced on the Metro Tunnel project, with the government claiming to have 'referred' the matter to Victoria Police in November 2025.
Today before Parliament Public Accounts and Estimates Committee, Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Gabrielle Williams stated: "I ensured it was referred to Victoria Police, where it was going to be, uh, to ensure it could be adequately investigated."
However, in direct contradiction to this - Victoria Police have today confirmed they never received a formal report or any allegation of criminality in relation to this incident, stating:
"Victoria Police was advised in November 2025 of the incident, however a formal report was not made by any party regarding any allegations of criminality."
Under questioning, VIDA Chief Executive Duncan Elliott also refused to confirm that allegations of criminal misconduct were provided to police, stating only that VIDA gave police "the outcomes of the investigation that CYP and Schindler had undertaken."
Minister Williams also failed to confirm whether the Premier or the Premier's office was informed, and was unable to provide the exact date the matter was referred to police.
Shadow Minister Transport Infrastructure, Evan Mulholland, said: "Labor has been caught red-handed covering-up Big Build corruption.
"Labor claims it has 'zero-tolerance' for misconduct on major projects but failed to make a formal report or pass on allegations of criminality to Victoria Police relating to a $6 million fraud.
"This was another hollow 'referral' designed to fail, just like the Premier's knowingly doomed IBAC letter. Victorians deserve so much better.
"Victoria needs a fresh start and only our Liberals and Nationals team has a plan to end the rorts, find the money and clean up Victoria."
