A man has been arrested after nearly colliding with a police officer at a driver testing site.
At 11pm on Friday 14 August, Road Policing Section officers were conducting static alcohol and drug testing on Ayliffes Road, St Marys, when a Mercedes SUV was directed into the site.
During a breath test, it will be alleged the driver put his vehicle into gear and accelerated away, narrowly missing the officer conducting the test and other vehicles within the testing site.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, police attended a Flagstaff Hill home just before 6pm on Sunday 16 August and arrested the alleged driver.
The 42-year-old man was charged with driving in a manner dangerous and an outstanding fuel drive-off offence. He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 10 September.
Police issued the man with an immediate 12-month loss of licence, and his Mercedes SUV was impounded for 28 days.
