  • Labor Leader, Rebecca White, today expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the latest victim to have tragically died from COVID-19 in Tasmania.

The death of the 79-year old woman from the state's North West is Tasmania's ninth COVID-19 fatality.

"On behalf of the Tasmanian Labor Party, I covey our sincere condolences and pay our deepest respects to the woman's friends and family.

"I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it must be to be robbed of the opportunity to say goodbye or hold the hand of the person you love as they slip away.

"My thoughts are also with the medical workers who have continued to support our community throughout this pandemic - we thank you for your tireless work.

"We can all help stop the spread of this deadly disease by staying home. So please stay home, and save lives."
