Labor Leader Rebecca White has tried to continue her shameless scare campaign in Parliament this morning regarding Tasmania's eSchool.
FACT: There will be no cut to funding or the teacher allocation at Tasmania's eSchool next year.
Despite four eSchool teachers' fixed term contracts concluding at the end in 2019, these positions are not being taken away from the school and will be filled by normal staffing processes in 2020.
FACT: The Tasmanian eSchool will continue to maintain teaching staff ABOVE the 2016 eSchool review recommendations.
The Tasmanian eSchool is the Department of Education's online learning provider, offering educational programs and online courses for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 based on the Tasmanian/Australian Curriculum.
Labor have no credibility when it comes to education, Tasmanians will never forget that it was the former Labor-Green Government which tried to close 20 schools as a budget measure.
This is in stark contrast to the Hodgman majority Liberal Government - we are investing a record amount into education, have employed an additional 221 teachers, 231 teacher assistants, and are extending every secondary school to Year 12.
Scare mongering is no substitute for policy.
It's about time Rebecca White and Labor got their facts right about eSchool, stopped their shameless scare campaign and actually developed an education policy of their own.
