Lancaster University to host major international conference

Lancaster University's Engineering department is to bring together leading scientists from across the world in a virtual conference on millimetre waves and Terahertz (THz) technology.

The 14th UK-Europe-China Workshop on Millimetre Waves and Terahertz Technologies, or UCMMT 2021, will take place virtually from 13th to 15th September.

UCMMT is a unique forum where leading scientists, in particular from China, Europe and the United Kingdom, share their scientific and technical knowledge in the field of electronics and applications at the frequency of millimetre and THz waves. These are parts of the ultra high frequency spectrum which are still largely unexploited.

The conference will comprise nine different major topics, which will cover application areas such as 5G/6G communications, space, imaging for health monitoring, advanced materials and devices in both solid state and vacuum electronics.

Dr Rosa Letizia, General Chair of UCMMT 2021 and Senior Lecturer at Lancaster University's Engineering department, said: "We are delighted to organise and host virtually this major event in the field of millimetre waves and Terahertz technology. The programme will be exciting, including eight renowned scientists as plenary speakers and a special session on 'Terahertz communications beyond 5G'. We are looking forward to welcoming our colleagues in UCMMT 2021."

The conference is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) and Electron Device Society (EDS).
